Ok, so here’s some thing you may have never heard, though about, realized about those wonderful instructors up there…killing you!

 

1)      Sometimes we don’t to workout either!! I have four kids, a full time job, laundry overflowing, and probably grocery shopping to do…right after this class!  BUT…we are going to get this done, because we said we would…and maybe for my students, they were psyched to be at class today…because sometimes you DO want a great workout...and maybe today is that day for one of them…so as my redneck cuban cousin would say: “Put your big girl panties on and deal with it!”

2)      The days when I don’t want to workout, is going to be YOUR toughest class!  One good chug of an energy drink and just the right warm-up song, and we are SOOOOO doing this!!!  Watch out!!

3)      Do as I do, not as I say…necessarily…For someone who has been dancing, cheering and instructing basically all my life, I still don’t always get the Right versus Left thing clear on my mind before I say it.  So when I say left and go right, please don’t be shocked…the body is willing, but the mind is weak! J

4)      Point 4: Instructors ARE human…and make mistakes…sometimes a lot.  Just smile and accept that the universe is fair and we are all truly created equal!

5)      You really CAN hold it!  Don’t get me wrong, if I didn’t ethically believe that I am your servant for that hour, I would sometimes RUSH to the bathroom…BUT there have been plenty of times when a meringue has been the pee pee dance for me.  Lesson Learned: Always go to the bathroom before class starts! Always!!

As a co-creator, I am constantly asking myself this question, specifically as it relates to getting exercise.

I am typically inclined to believe that women want to feel sexy, sweat, smile, and maybe leave a little sore and shaking…just to remind them it was really a good workout. 

 

And that is my mission in every class…to make women shake, smile and be a little sore on the way home.  There is something oddly comforting about a little pain mixed in with your pleasure….I will let your imaginations absorb that statement to the fullest extent. 

 

But maybe that’s what a great workout really drives home…the connection to other painful/wonderful experiences…like new love and how all the excitement of it is just a little nauseating and gut wrenching…painful.  Is it the endorphins?  The mixed signals to the brain? The fact that is lingers on the brain for so long after the fact…the enjoyment lasts. 

 

I am continually using my students as guinea pigs on the exact right recipe for that divine experience…the workout that was less work and more of a joyful pain. If you are into experimentation, and enjoy a good tremble with a smile, look me up on the schedule!
